Course Leader: Rebecca Holmes
Photopolymer
A specialist course offering hands on experience working with photosensitive polymer. The plates exhibit a continuous tone, fine detail and rich blacks. There is also the opportunity to develop plates for relief printing, ideal for letterpress and logos. The course focuses on a combination of digital imaging software, UV exposing and traditional etching. You will be guided through Adobe Photoshop, to output and expose A5 digital positives. The studio is a low toxic environment and the course will teach students to handle solvents and oil based inks safely.
Suitable for beginners and for those with previous printmaking experience.
Ideal for photographs and scanned hand-drawn images. All materials will be provided.
What you will achieve by the end
Learn to use Photoshop’s levels and adjustment curves, to alter the tone and exposure; to achieve an A5 photopolymer plate and edition onto archival rag paper. Attendees will have gained sufficient skills to book onto Open Access.
