Andrea G Artz

Andrea is a multimedia artist, photographer, printmaker & educator based in London. Her work has emerged out of photography’s expanded field and includes installation, photography, printmaking, and immersive realities such as VR and AR. She blends old and new techniques combining digital polygon worlds with soft Japanese Woodcut to create small editions for each of her digital imaginaries. She is currently experimenting with Alternative Photographic Processes and Japanese Water based woodcut. Andrea's work "Rise of the Tidal Island Queens" is part of ISEA International Everywhen in Brisbane/ Australia and iMkonsthall, a mobile gallery traveling through the North of Sweden. She was shortlisted for Artists Meet Archives 2024/ International Photoszene Koeln and for the VR Art Prize 2023 awarded by DKB Berlin. Awards include a bursary from a-n and Arts Council England, 2022; a commission for Grain Projects, 2020; an Arts Council England Lottery grant, 2020; a Mac Dowell Colony Fellowship Award at Peterborough, NH, USA, 2018; a DYCP Arts Council grant, 2018; as well as Ecce (European Centre for Creative Economy) award. Solo exhibitions at Neuland Projekt Raum, Bochum; Coleman Project Space, London, 2021; Foyer Gallery, School of Design, University of Leeds, 2019; and Rottstr5 kunsthallen, Bochum, Germany, 2017. Andrea's work is held in the collections of the Museum of London; Charles Dickens Museum; MFAH Houston, USA and Museum Kunst & Gewerbe, Hamburg.
