Japanese Woodblock
Japanese woodblock printing (Mokuhanga) is a beautiful non-toxic way of making and printing by hand without a press, using watercolour, traditional tools and paper.
Students will need to bring imagery on the first day to make prints from.
During the 3 days course, students will learn:
- How to carve and make blocks using traditional method.
- To carve kento registration mark.
- Prepare and set up for printing.
- How to ink using water based medium and brushes.
- Print by hand using traditional Japanese baren.
At the end of the course, students will have a small edition of multi coloured prints and be able to work independently.
Who is this workshop for?
No previous experience is required for this workshop and is open to complete beginners or those with some knowledge.
